I love fall but the problem is I have never experienced the classic “fall,” that the rest of the world gets. I am talking about the “Gilmore Girls,” red and yellow crunchy leaves and everyone wearing tan trench coats while sipping on their warm Pumpkin Spice Latte. Meanwhile in AZ we are walking around in bikinis sipping on our iced PSL, getting a sun burn. Okay so that may have been an exaggeration but it’s not too far stretched. The difference between an AZ fall and AZ summer is that the weather is about 10 degrees cooler and the sun sets earlier than in the summer. Although I am a true Arizonan who appreciates the subtle changes, I still like to feel connected to the rest of the world and celebrate fall. So behold, I have made a list of ways to be able to embrace the season while still being able to hit the pool.

1. Watch fall shows and movies.

Something that helps me get into the spirit is to watch my favorite fall shows and movies. One of my favorite movies is “You’ve Got Mail.” This movie has all the classic rom-com feels and is set up in New York during autumn.

I have talked about “Gilmore Girls,” before but that’s because it is not only one of my favorites but also because the show seems to remain in the same season all year round. A classic TV show in my book.

2. Eat and drink seasonal foods!

This is the glorious time of year were everything in the grocery stores is pumpkin spice flavored. The other day I saw that Frosted Flakes is joining the bandwagon this year. So whether it be a pumpkin spice Pop-Tart or pumpkin noodles, this is a sure way to feel more at one with autumn.

3. Wear fall colors.

Even though the weather is still hot outside and it is tempting to continue wearing our hot pink crop-top, I recommend switching out the pink for a maroon or burnt orange color and pairing it with black slide ons. By just changing one article of clothing, it will help you feel like you are one with the New Yorkers!

4. Buy a pumpkin!

Pumpkins will be popping up all over your local grocery stores soon and this will be your chance to use the pumpkin as a decoration! You don’t even have to carve it, just by placing the pumpkin on your dining table, it will instantly get you in the fall mood. Another way to do this could be by picking up a few Halloween decorations.

That’s all I got for today! What will you try in order to get into the season? Until next time, have fun!
